What is Skype? Skype is free software that makes it possible to place free calls, chats, and video conferences over the internet. All you need is an internet connection (usually high speed), a microphone and speakers for your computer, and a free Skype account. How do Skype Video Counseling Sessions work? Even though Skype counseling is different from in-office sessions, therapeutically it is the same. We move slowly as trust built and the therapeutic relationship grows. It is very important that you feel safe with our time together.

I treat Skype sessions the same way I do face-to-face sessions. Even through long distance, I believe we still share a common space or a field in some way. I strive to create a safe space in which we explore things together and try to pick up and communicate to you about subtle information that comes through the tone of your voice, the atmosphere, and the images and feelings that occur in me.  Skype sessions can be conducted using just the phone call option or, if you have a web cam available, we can create a video chat so we can see each other. Either way works well, how I prefer creating a video chat.
If you are interested in Skype online video counseling first you need to have access to a computer with a microphone and a video camera. For counseling sessions your computer should be set up in a location that affords you the safety, comfort and confidentiality you need.

How much does the Skype Video counseling session cost?  I charge $100.00 for a 60 minutes, or $50.00 for a 30 minutes session.

All Skype sessions are pre-paid using an online payment form.

Skype Session Tips

Please try to create a private space free of distractions and other people’s presence as best you can during the session times (and preferably 10 minutes or so before and after the sessions.)

If possible please use a head set with microphone so that you have your hands free (speaker phone might create an echo and may not work so well).

It would be a good idea to have some paper, pencils and crayons, a couple of puppets, and some pillows ready. Even in Skype sessions, we can still incorporate art therapy, psychodrama using puppets, and movement work.
